Christmas Wish List!

Sun Nov 22, 2009, 1:28 PM
I got REALLY sick of seeing New Moon on my front page. So here's something different!

Saw this in =xephia's journal, which was originally taken from =nayruasukei's journal.

:holly: THE BASICS: Write a Christmas/Holiday wish list. It can be any 10 wishes you'd like to have granted, no matter what they are. Possible or seemingly impossible. People look and grant the wishes if they can. It's not about "OMFG PRESENTS," it's about making someone else's holiday a little brighter by giving. Personally, I get more out of giving than receiving sometimes. It's just a good feeling to give.

:holly: STEP ONE

** Make a post in your journal. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

** If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. In this case, you can always just note someone on dA for the sake of privacy.

** Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, so that others can join in and participate to spread the holiday joy!

:holly: STEP TWO

** Surf this forum ( [link] ) and browse the lists. Here's the important part:

** If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

** You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

:holly: KEYA'S WISHLIST

1. My very own copy of Left 4 Dead 2 (or Left 4 Dead).

2. Anti-Twilight or other assorted buttons (the very small ones so I can indiscreetly put them on my backpack; the huge ones get caught too easily and look tacky).

3. A PSP! So I can play Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (and while we're at it, I wish for the game as well).

4. A beagle puppy. So it can get used to my kitty and won't try to eat him.

5. Movie wall posters, especially from Harry Potter and the Chronicles of Narnia or Final Fantasy. I am a HUGE movie wall poster fan. I have two Star Wars posters, a Kingdom Hearts poster, one from Star Trek, and one from the Half-Blood Prince. More would be lovely!

6. ART of any of my OCs! They should be stuffed in the Original part of my gallery. Or in my stories at FictionPress: [link] .

7. Someone who can teach me how to speak Tagalog or Cebuano. Even though I've lived with my mom my entire life, I've never learned the language and I NEED to.

8. A simple black or brown messenger bag.

9. Christmas cards! If you send me one, then let me know so I can send you one back! I'll even draw a quick little sketch in it or something equally dorky.

10. I wish everyone who reads this would go out and perform one act of service during the Christmas season. It doesn't have to be anything big, it just has to make a difference. If you do, you can either post a comment and let us know or just keep it to yourself. This is all I REALLY want for Christmas--you never know who's life you can change...or save.

Examples!

-Write a note for your parents/siblings/friends telling them how much you love and appreciate them and leave it on their pillow.
-Do extra chores around the house without being asked.
-Make a new friend out of someone you may not talk to otherwise--you'll never know what sort of awesome people you'll meet.
-Guys, ask a girl out who doesn't seem to get many dates.
-Girls, make it easy on the guys, or at least try to include someone in your group who usually isn't included in anything.
-Donate any nice, new or new-ish clothing to your local Salvation Army, Dessert Industries, or any other charity organization.
-Get together some friends and go after people to donate non perishable items, or just donate some stuff out of your kitchen/pantry--there are SO many people who are going to be going without this year due to the economy so please help out the food banks, homeless shelters, and soup kitchens!

Photoshop Elements 3.0. It came with my tablet and I'm too poor to buy a more high-tech version.

And mostly I've been pulling elements from a variety of coloring tutorials. Just gotta develop. xD
